Summer in Copenhagen

By Cecilie

Strædet

First of all, I love when Copenhagen buzzes of life in the summer. Instead of following the tourist flow down the main shopping street Strøget, I highly recommend to visit the side street to the shopping street called Strædet. Strædet is a pleasant street filled with cafes, florists and vintage shops. I love to find unique home decorationg items with a delicious iced coffee from Cafe Kys in my hand.

Thirsty for cocktails?

Two of my favourite cocktail bars are located not far from Strædet; Fugu Cocktail Bar and Ruby's.

In the back of Fugu you’ll find is a small courtyard. With a cocktail in your hand, this courtyard is the perfect surrounding for pleasant summer evening. Only a few minutes walk from Fugu you’ll find Ruby's, which has the best cocktails in the city. Ruby's is hidden along Gammel Strand and the entry is marked with a flag instead of a sign. So the next time you walk along Gammel Strand, look for a white flag with a red cross, and you're guaranteed a wonderful evening with great cocktails!

Canal tour boats

For me it's not really summer without a trip with the canal tour boats! Jump on the boats at Gammel Strand or Nyhavn, sit back and enjoy Copenhagen's main sights from the water.

Copenhagen Street Food

After the canal tour, I would recommend to take the harbor bus (havnebussen) to PapirØen. PapirØen is located in Christianshavn and is a popular area for us locals to relax or party. I love to visit Copenhagen Street Food where you'll find food from all over the world. What make it special are the many "food trucks" and the location directly by the canal. Enjoy a delicious burger, tacos or the Danish open sandwich dish (smørrebrød) while you follow the harbor traffic from the dock. Visit Copenhagen Streetfood: http://copenhagenstreetfood.dk/en/
